SAFETY
The sites your video ads run on affect your brand equity. That’s why TubeMogul’s BrandSafe system integrates multiple layers of brand protection (SiteSafe, PageSafe and PlaySafe) to ensure that your ads only run beside content worthy of your brand.
SiteSafe
SiteSafe manually screens every site accessed by our buying platform and organizes them into a set of brand-safe tiers to which you can target your ads.• Tier 1: Brand-name, globally recognizable sites
• Tier 2: Pro-quality sites that advertisers may not know of
• Tier 3: Niche, long-tail sites
PageSafe
PageSafe examines the content of individual webpages, determines if they contain objectionable content and decides whether to block ads from being served on those pages. Using data from Proximic, pages are categorized into safety tiers (e.g., G, PG-13, R), and objectionable topics (e.g., alcohol, violence) are flagged so that you have full control over what types of pages your ads run on.PlaySafe
With the newest release of BrandSafe 2.0, PlaySafe technology is now more advanced than ever before. The technology protects advertisers by preemptively blocking suspicious sites and malicious practices such as: fake pre-roll, Botnet infected websites and sites using masking or nested iFrame technology to stream pirated content. All of these measures and more are executed “pre-bid”, so that our clients’ brand equity and budgets are never compromised.Botnet Protection
Botnets are a network of hijacked computers programmed to drive fake video ad views. To combat Botnets, TubeMogul monitors atypical visitation patterns and engagement behavior, blocks known botnet proxies, private IP ranges and infected computers or audience cookie segments and publishes lists of sites known to be infected.Pirated Content Protection
Video piracy occurs when copyrighted content is replicated without permission from the content owner. Unethical publishers promote the content as their own, profiting from advertisement placements from well-known brands. The TubeMogul platform protects brands from the following practices:• URL Masking: Advertisers bid and win ad auctions on what appears to be reputable websites, only to have their ads run on a different website.
• Nested iFrames: A fraudulent practice where publishers nest iFrames across multiple web properties and display ads on unwanted sites or content.
