Mark, our VP of Sales and Engineering, got stuck in traffic on his way to a panel appearance at Video Search News in San Francisco yesterday, confounded by the traffic caused by many thousands of protesters (and counter-protesters) greeting the olympic flame on its official stop. Outrage over Tibet was palpable.
Several Tibet-related videos, including footage of protests in London and of Tibetan monks greeting journalists, made our list of the top 1000 most-viewed videos these last weeks. With China promising to temporarily lift speech restrictions for the olympics (including for online video, we hope), this firestorm is presaging something much bigger. And it’s not just Tibet. The Wall Street Journal reports that Muslim Uyghurs are also taking the opportunity to air their grievances, not to mention Darfur activists.
